My Hand-Made Bracelet's
Most of us have heard of, seen or even have a Chan Luu bracelet. These bracelets have been this years hot commodity. At $200 a pop these bracelets better do more then just sit ever so perfectly on our wrists. After searching high and low for sale or discounted Chan Luu's, in the colors I wanted, I decided it couldn't be that hard to make and decided to make my own. Turns out, Chan Luu isn't that brilliant after all. Below is everything you will need to create your own!
Materials:
- 5-6 mm Beads
- 6 feet of 2 mm leather cord ( wraps around your wrist 4 times)
- 2 hole closure
- 0.07 mm clear monofilament thread (I found mine at Walmart!)
- Place your 3 hole closure in the middle of your leather cord by putting each end of the leather cord through on of the holes and pull until the leather cord is equal in length to one another and the closure is at the top of the cord.
- Use about 3-4 times the length of the leather cord you are using of the monofilament clear thread.
- Tie a knot about 1 1/2 inches below the top of the monofilament.
- Tie a knot right below the closure with the leather cord as well as your monofilament.
- Tie a knot with your monofilament around the left leather cord. Place the thread around and under the same left cord. Pull gently to tighten.
- Place a bead through the thread and move it all the way down the thread.
- Place the tread under and around the right leather cord.
- Put the end of the cord back through the bead making sure the thread is still under the right leather cord otherwise your bead will fall off the thread.
- Pull firmly but gently to tighten your bead and wrap your thread over and around the left leather cord. Place another bead onto your thread and repeat steps.
- Once you have added all of your beads, tie a knot around the left cord with your thread. Gather both cords and your thread and tie a knot a the bottom. Tie another know about an inch away from the first knot and there you have it. Your very own Chan Luu!
